Angel Air Corp While driving home from Orlando, Florida, and fighting the traffic as we went through Atlanta, I remember thinking that there had to be a better way to travel. 13 hours in a car with two small kids was just no fun at all. So, I started thinking about air travel. After we got home, I went to the local airport to inquire as to what was involved in learning to fly. The good people at Midwest Aviation in Paducah, Kentucky suggested that I take a "Discovery Flight". In a Discovery Flight, you actually get to fly a light aircraft, and a Certified Flight Instructor is right beside you, to keep you from driving his plane into the ground. Sign me up! Now I've always been sort of afraid of heights, but, as we went down the runway and lifted off, (with yours truly at the controls) I looked out the window and before I knew it, we were 200 feet above the ground. A few moments later, we were at 1,500 feet. It seemed to be the most natural thing in the world to be doing. I didn't know it at the time, but the Lord had removed my fear in order to equip me to carry out His will. Oh, by the way, I had a ball. The weather was perfect for a wannabe to be flying. When you find something that you rally enjoy doing, it's only natural that you would want to share it with the ones you love. So, I started thinking...How can I combine this new found enthusiasm for aviation and my service to the Lord. Well, it took a while to figure out, but, about a year later, Angel Air Corp was conceived. It was a long, sometimes uphill struggle, because I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing. After a little research, i knew that the first step was incorporation. But, how? What does it cost? Can I do it myself or do I need a lawyer? And what does a lawyer cost? I need a Board of Directors? Oh boy... I spoke with a couple of good friends at Church about being directors. These two men had earned my utmost respect and admiration because of how they live the Christian life, and both men have a heart for service to the Lord. I knew that they were the right ones for the job. Steve Turner and Kenny Vaughn joined Angel Air Corp a short time later. After much prayer, I chose to use one of those online companies that could file the legal documents for you, simply because it was the cheapest way to get the job done. On September 9th, 2005, Angel Air Corp was born. The Disaster Relief Wing was added to the list of ministries because disaster preparedness has long been a facet of my personal life. I feel that as a husband and father, I have a responsibility to my family to see them through anything that comes our way. And since we live on top of an active earthquake fault, it only seems like the wise thing to do. As a Building Inspector for McCracken County, I have seen a number of homes that were damaged by fire. I am always amazed at the devastation brought on by a house fire. Not only is a building destroyed, but, all of the personal possessions are gone too. Things that can't be replaced. Gone are the recorded memories, the photos, the trophies, the children's toys, the favorite Christmas ornaments, Aunt Mae's china. All gone. These poor folks escaped a horrible death, only by the Grace of God, but they were left homeless and virtually naked. In reading Luke, chapter 10, where Jesus tells the parable of the good Samaritan, the Lord impressed on me that the last thing He said to his audience was "Go and do thou likewise." If a victim of a house fire is any better off than the man in the parable who was beaten, robbed, and left for dead, I can't see how! I believe that It's my personal duty, as a Christian, to "Go and do thou likewise". God Bless, John Colson President, Angel Air Corp |

But, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 |
